FAQs

How do I apply?

Start your enrollment online on the TSA PreCheck®by CLEARwebsite. You can pre-enroll online and make an appointment for the in-person process, or walk-in to an enrollment center without an appointment. Head to the UA Passport Acceptance Facility to finish your application. The online application takes five minutes to complete with the in-person visit taking 10 minutes. During the  in-person process, the enrollment provider will collect your biometric data (fingerprints, photo), verify identity and citizenship documents, and collect payment. Once approved, you’ll receive your Known Traveler Number (KTN) in 3-5 days (some can take up to 60 days).

What do I need to apply?

You will need to bring your U.S. passport or other accepted forms of ID to finish your enrollment in-person.

What are the benefits?

TSA PreCheck® members benefit from the convenience of keeping shoes, belts, and light jackets on during the security screening. They can also leave electronics and 3-1-1 compliant liquids in their carry-on bags. Members generally experience faster security screening, with about 99% of them waiting less than 10 minutes at airport checkpoints nationwide.

Do I need to sign my kids up too?

Children 17 and under can join an adult with TSA PreCheck® when TSA PreCheck® appears on the child’s boarding pass

How long does it take to get my Known Traveler Number (KTN)?

Most applicants receive their Known Traveler Number (KTN) in 3-5 days, though some applications can take up to 60 days.

What is a Known Traveler Number (KTN)?

A Known Traveler Number (KTN) is issued to all individuals approved to receive TSA PreCheck® expedited screening.  The KTN must be added in the KTN field when booking airline travel reservations to have the TSA PreCheck® indicator appear on your boarding pass
