PASSPORT ACCEPTANCE FACILITY
***Our Passport Acceptance Facility will close at 12pm on Friday, March 8, and remain closed through the University’s Spring Break (Mar 11 – 15). Normal operations will resume on Monday, March 18 at 9 am.***
The University of Alabama Passport Acceptance Facility is located at

We recommend using google Maps (not Apple) for accurate directions.
Limited parking is available in front of the building. Note that the red-striped parking spaces are paid parking that can be accessed through the Park Mobile app. Most visits to the Passport Acceptance Facility are 30 minutes or less.
You are required to submit one 2" x 2" color photo with your passport application. The photo must be taken within the last 6 months and have a clear image of your face and taken in front of a white background. Selfies or photos with filters or retouching are not allowed. For more information on photo requirements view U.S. Passport Photos (state.gov).
Our certified passport agents can take and print your passport photos for you. The passport photo fee is $16.00 plus tax ($17.60 total) and includes two copies of your photo.
Photo Tips
- Head coverings are not allowed except for medical or religious purposes (an affidavit will be required in these instances).
- Eyeglasses may not be worn.
- Uniforms (business or government) and camouflage clothing are not permitted.
- The photo background is white, so we advise not wearing a white shirt.
- Headphones or wireless hands-free devices are not permitted.
- Jewelry and facial piercings are permitted as long as they do not hide your face.
- Permanent tattoos are acceptable.
- Smile! Yes, you may smile modestly with your moth closed in your passport photo.

If you already have a passport and need to renew it, you can do that by mail.
Visit this link for passport renewal information.
You can renew by mail if you respond "Yes" to all statements below about your most recent passport:
- I can submit it with my application.
- It is not damaged (other than normal wear and tear).
- I have never reported it lost or stolen.
- It was issued within the last 15 years.
- It was issued when I was age 16 or older.
- It was issued in my current name, or I can provide another document such as a marriage certificate or divorce decree that is evidence of my name change.
- It was not limited to less than the normal 10-year period of validity because I've lost multiple passports, or I've had multiple damaged passports.

You will need to submit a passport photo with your renewal application. Our faculty offers passport photo services as well as drop-off of passport renewal packets for mailing.<br<

- Have your required documents sent to you now if you don't already have them! This may involve contacting the health department where you were born to purchase an "original" birth certificate or ordering through a company like Vitachek.
- Passports expire in 10 years (for adults).
- Some countries require that your passport be valid for a period of time before (or after) you travel there. Always look up the specific requirements before you book your travel.
- When traveling (particularly on a cruise) do not let them stamp your book as a souvenir. This invalidates your passport for travel.
